Abstract

Pipeline fittings are presented on the market in a wide range and are used in various industries. This article highlights the importance of ensuring the safe operation of the pipeline system and the reliability of its elements. The article analyzes the main types and kinds of pipeline fittings, materials used for their production, defects and the most vulnerable places that appear during operation. Particular attention is paid to methods of protection against factors affecting reliability and service life, such as corrosion and wear. The experience of Russian and foreign scientists in the field of increasing the reliability of fittings by applying protective coatings or chemical-thermal treatment is considered
